The Modi government has given a big gift to the central workers amid rising inflation and the Koro epidemic. The government has increased the dearness allowance of central employees, i.e. DA from 17% to 28%. According to sources, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday sealed the deal. It is yet to be officially announced. The decision will benefit 50 lakh central employees and 61 lakh pensioners.

Earlier, due to the Corona epidemic, raising the DA of employees and pensioners was banned till June 2021. Central employees and pensioners are due to receive three installments of DA on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021.

What is inflation allowance, i.e. DA?
The inflation allowance is a part of the celery. This is a fixed percentage of the employee's primary salary. To reduce the impact of inflation in the country, the government provides inflation allowances to its employees. This is increased from time to time. Retired employees also benefit from this.
