Gujarat has placed orders for 2.5 crore vaccine doses to indigenous vaccine manufacturers in India. The Gujarat government is constantly consulting these two companies to get more and more vaccine doses. 3 lakh vaccine doses are arriving in Gujarat by air till this evening and from tomorrow, vaccination of youth in 10 districts will be launched.

Gujarat will get 11 lakh doses in May

The Chief Minister further said that the state government would provide free vaccines to the youth above 18 years of age from 9 am on the foundation day of Gujarat in 10 districts where corona infection is high - Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Kutch, Mehsana, Bharuch and Gandhinagar. During the month of May, Gujarat will get 11 lakh doses of vaccine. The state government is working hard to achieve even more. As the vaccine becomes available, youth vaccination will be phased out in more and more districts.

Only young people who have received an SMS go for the vaccine

Chief Minister Rupani clarified that out of the youths who have registered online on the portal, only the youths from these ten districts will get SMS, and on the date, place and time indicated in the SMS they will have to go to the center and get vaccinated. Online registration is mandatory for vaccination. There is no on-site registration so only those who have registered online and have received an SMS will go for the vaccine. Vaccination is going on very smoothly in Gujarat. So it remains to be seen whether there will be any disturbance in this operation.

As on April 29, the state had only 4.62 lakh doses of vaccine available, with Uttar Pradesh topping the list with 11.80 lakh doses and Gujarat topping the list with 4.62 lakh doses.

1.20 crore vaccination in Gujarat

As far as Gujarat is concerned, a total of 97,78,790 people have been vaccinated for the first dose while 22,67,033 people have been vaccinated for the second dose till 7 am on April 29. Thus, a total of 1,20,54,863 vaccination doses have been given. Maharashtra tops the list with 1.55 crore doses, followed by Rajasthan with 1.28 doses, Uttar Pradesh with 1.21 doses, Gujarat with 1.20 doses and West Bengal with 1.06 crore doses.

The state has so far received 5 lakh 53 thousand 172 positive reports, while the death toll has risen to 7,010. As many as 4 lakh 8 thousand 368 patients have been discharged so far. In terms of active cases, there are currently 1,37,794 active cases in the state, out of which 572 patients are on ventilator, while 1,37,222 patients are in stable condition.
